Personality:
Kain was a minor nobleman from Coorhagen who had the worst luck in being chosen by fate, as well as outside conspiracies, to change the world. Like Elric of Melnibone or Paul Muad'Dib, he would bring mass death and destructive change to the established world order. However, he does not know how much of his quest is preordained. In his human life, the plague that struck his town and his time as a soldier for King Ottmar made him somewhat humble and repress some of his aristocratic upbringing.
After being resurrected as a vampire, his arrogance is only exceeded by his desire for revenge against his murderers (later, against those who would strike at his vampiric brethren). Even in the presence of considerably stronger beings, he still sees himself with the reckless youthful myth of immortality or that no one can stop him.
He is not wanton in his cruelty. He only feeds on peasants to meet his needs and knows full well that to gorge himself would deprive him of a renewable source of food. He savors the blood of his enemies except when in possession of the Soul Reaver, which drinks their spirits. He despises being seen as an outcast and so the spell of deception beguiles others to seethe beautiful nobleman he once was. Whereas more elder vampires have divorced themselves from the affairs of man, Kain's attachment to his recently lost humanity prevents him from doing so. While he may be selfish, arrogant and possibly genocidal at times, he does seek to eliminate injustice as he sees it.
Strengths:
Physical: As a vampire, he has supernatural strength at night. As a being of chaos he also hold the ability for transformation into a flock of bats, a powerful werewolf and intangible mist(that allows for the passage through permeable surfaces and over running water). At this point, he should be strong enough to live three days without feasting easily enough provided he isn't injured.
Mental: Capable of learning and employing various advanced spells, Noble and Martial education in what seems to be an equivalent to a Baroque era of Earth
Emotional: Strong willed, fearless, almost always self disciplined
Weaknesses:
Physical: A natural weakness to running water, flames, his skin can be pierced and he does need to feed on blood. He is not allergic to sun like other vampires, his strength is only halved to that of a slightly above average human. His transformation into wolf form drains his stamina.
Mental: Can be deceived by the machinations of others
Emotional: Can be blinded by desires of satisfaction when he feels wronged and can lose himself in a frenzied battle. He is arrogant enough to foolishly believe he is in complete control of his surroundings.
